What Would Your Real Life Friends Say?

Good Morning!  It’s only 6:30AM and for some reason I am full of energy.  Just another reason why I love my mornings! And the fact that the deer seem to always greet me as I drive in to work 🙂

It was a little family too – Mom, Dad, and two babies.  I about cry every time I see them (because I’m strange…and I love animals so much!)

Don't worry guys, it's just that crazy lady with the camera again.

So cute!

Farmer’s Market

It’s my early day at work and we’ll be spending the day setting up and working the Farmers Market we’re hosting. I really love this aspect of my job.  Putting together programs and events focused on health and wellness is so fun and I feel like the employees here are so appreciative and enjoy participating.  Let’s just hope the weather holds out for us today! It’s supposed to be hot with just a chance of isolated storms.  I think it will be a great day though!

What Would Your Real Life Friends Say?

When I write a post for my blog, I truly am being 100% genuine and authentic with what I say.  This is me.

But there are parts of me that are not portrayed on here simply because I think it’s hard to show everything about who you are through a blog.  For one, I don’t tell you guys everything about me or tell you every little thing that I do each day (trust me, you’d be bored to see how much TV I really watch at night and how early I go to bed..even on a Saturday night.  I’m really cool).  I also don’t talk in detail about my relationships with friends and family.  I just skim the surface of my life.

I thought it would be fun to come up with things that I think my “real life” friends and family would say about me and how I act in “real life”.  Ready to for this?

#1:  I am really strange.  And my friends would probably agree with that and have no problem saying it to my face. I’m strange in a goofy way and I love to make others laugh doing really weird things.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Exhibit C (this is what happens when a 3 year old puts your make up on by the way)

Exhibit D

I could really go on all day about how much of a goon I am, but I will spare you that and move on 😉

#2: I don’t talk about my emotions out loud.  When I write a post (like Tuesday’s on Food Obsession), I write from the heart.  Often those posts come out of no where. I just get a thought and I run with it.  These posts are meant to help others by sharing what I’ve been through and how I have changed my life for the better. I hope to inspire others to do the same if they are struggling with body image.

But in my “real life” I don’t talk about this.  Perhaps I should talk about it more, but in reality, I don’t.  It’s more something that I like to express through writing.

Plus, I like to spend my time laughing when I am with friends and sometimes a serious conversation like that just doesn’t come up!

I mean who could take me seriously looking like this?

That’s me and Fernando by the way.

#3: I’m a cry baby. Although I don’t always talk thoroughly about my emotions, I certainly can cry like no other! I’ve always been a cry baby.  Growing up I was the youngest out of most of my cousins and I was constantly picked on.  I would cry all. the. time. I even had a shirt that said “Don’t bother me, I am crabby”.  Because I was!

Now-a-days, I still can cry easily and I am easily upset, especially anything having to do with the mistreatment of animals.  When those depressing commercials come on with Sarah Mclachlan singing, I have to turn it off or the water works will instantly flow.

#4: I’m not the most patient person…and I think Andy would definitely agree! Unfortunately he gets the brunt of it too, especially if we’re driving somewhere and I get lost.  Let’s just say it’s not pretty and neither are the words coming out of my mouth!

#5: I hardly ever wear make up or dress up.  And again, Andy would attest to this. When I post pictures from weddings or other fun outings, I actually do put effort into what I wear.  But aside from these times, I generally wear absolutely no make up and you can find me in my shorts and a t-shirt or hoodie.

I actually would like to work on putting more effort into what I wear and actually brushing my hair rather than putting it up in a bun, because I really do feel better.  But ultimately, I’m lazy and I’d rather slip into something comfy!

Tell me something that YOUR friends or family would say about YOU that isn’t always portrayed on your blog?

Blog Inspired Workouts

Remember how I had a major blah workout the other day? It turns out that all I needed was a little change and inspiration to get my workout mojo back again!

Blog Inspired Workout

One of the things I love most about reading health and fitness blogs is that you can get so many great ideas on an array of things including exercise, fashion and recipes. I especially love looking to other bloggers for workout inspiration.

During my lunch break on Thursday I decided to try a workout that Julie from Peanut Butter Fingers posted on her blog.  She said it was one heck of a workout and one of the hardest she’s posted on her blog.  I knew I wanted to try and tackle this workout! Plus, it was 30-minutes long which is all the time I have during my lunch break. Perfect!

I followed the workout exactly how Julie posted and it looked like this:

This was a great workout and I loved every sweaty minute of it! I especially enjoyed the variety of running and incline walking. The workout really flew by!  I would definitely recommend this workout to anyone wanting an intense 30-minute cardio workout that kicks your booty.  This certainly was not a blah workout!

Due to my intense cardio session on my lunch break and the Total Body Toning class I taught at work, my appetite was in full force yesterday.  I was craving a hearty dinner and I knew that pasta would satisfy my grumbling tummy.

I searched my pantry and freezer and came up with the following ingredients to make a delicious pasta bake:

  • Whole Wheat Pasta
  • Frozen Chopped Broccoli
  • Canned Diced Tomatoes
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Chicken Sausage
  • Shredded Cheese

Once the pasta was finished cooking, I began layering the ingredients in a baking dish:

I spruced up the ingredients by adding salt, pepper and Italian Seasoning.

I topped the pasta with shredded cheese because I believe cheese makes just about every dish so much better 🙂

Since the sausage was precooked and I microwaved the broccoli, the dish didn’t have to bake that long.  I cooked it at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes until the cheese was melted.

I then let it sit in the oven on a lower temperature to keep warm since I was waiting for Andy to come home.

The Stare Down

I wasn’t the only one waiting for Andy though. Boo and Sophia anxiously looked out the window for him to come home:

I just know he'll be here

While creeping out the window Sophia had a serious staring match with a bunny:

If this glass wasn't here, you'd be toast rabbit!

You don't look so tough

Luckily Andy came home and broke up the staring match. They were so excited!

Dad's home!

They were so excited they broke out into a serious wrestling match:

I promise they are only playing…don’t let Boo’s crazy snarl face full you.  They were giving each other kisses just moments later.  Ahh, sibling love 😉

The rest of the evening was spent eating pasta  (which was good, but next time I think I want to add some ricotta cheese for more creaminess!) and relaxing on the couch catching up on some shows.

Weekend Plans

This weekend is packed with babies! I have a baby shower for Andy’s cousin on Saturday and on Sunday Andy and I are watching his baby niece, Claire, for the day. Wish us luck because neither one of us has ever babysat, let alone changed a diaper!!

Have a great weekend!

1. Do you have any workouts you enjoy that you’ve posted on your blog? If so, please share the link so we can all get some workout inspiration!

2. Any tips on baby sitting a 5 month old? 🙂

One Year…Almost!

Happy Friday!

Friday Lovin'

I’m finally feeling like myself again and have eased my way back into exercise.  Well, I really didn’t have a choice as I teach Group Fitness at work, but I did take it easy teaching.

I started back exercising on Wednesday after taking 5 much needed days off to rest and recover from being sick. This sickness kicked my booty but made me reevaluate my workout schedule and my motives behind working out.  Sometimes I get caught up thinking I need to exercise just  to simply burn calories.  That’s no fun! And it’s not the reason I want to exercise.  I want to enjoy exercising first and foremost and I want to feel good and reap the health benefits.  I don’t need 2 hours of exercise to maintain my weight.  Heck, I’ve taken weeks off and did nothing and maintained my weight.  This lovely lady’s thoughts on exercise also helped me reevaluate what I do.  It’s a great read and I highly recommend it! You don’t need to kill yourself in the gym!

One Year…Almost!

On Sunday I celebrate my 1 year Blog Anniversary! Cardio Pizza turns 1 years old! How cool?

Happy Birthday Blog!

I started to blog before Cardio Pizza but those blogs didn’t stick.  I tried to be someone else and by doing so, my blog failed.  I couldn’t keep up.  I thought I had to be perfect with exercise and eating to be a fitness and health blogger.  Only until I realized that I had to be me is when my blog began to work.

Being ME

I looked to other blogs to see what was the “right” way to blog when I first began in the blog world.  I tried photographing all of my food and blogging more than once per day.  This didn’t work for me.  When I began doing things on my terms, my blog became fun and became something I looked forward to updating.  I can truly say that being true to who YOU are is the key to having a “successful” blog (and I mean being successful in your own eyes, not by how many views or how many comments you receive)

I choose not to blog more than once per day (or heck, usually only a few times a week) because my blog is my hobby and I want to commit my time to other aspects in my life.  This could change, but ultimately I don’t put a rigid schedule on myself to blog.

Why I Blog

I blog when I feel I have something important to say or when I get a creative idea.  I blog when I feel inspired and I blog when I want to share something with you all that I believe to be helpful.  I blog to inspire others to be comfortable in their own skin and to respect their bodies and to simply love and appreciate themselves for who they are.

Here is my first blog post on Cardio Pizza. I blogged about a trip to Vegas and my meet up with miss Tina over at Faith, Fitness and Fun. I used to live in Georgia for a year and we got to meet each other a few times.  I miss that!

Girls Night Out

Have a great weekend everyone! I’m off to have dinner and drinks with some of my girlfriends tonight! It’s been a while since our last Friday night out!

Girls Night Out

Ready for some drinks tonight!

I hope you are doing something fun tonight or taking time to relax and unwind from the week.

Why do you blog? Or if you don’t blog, why do you read blogs?

P.S. Stay tuned for my first Giveaways (yes, plural!) next week to celebrate Cardio Pizza’s first birthday! 🙂

Also,  I did a guest post for Lisa over at her blog I’m an Okie. It’s about ending food obsession.  Check it out!

A Reflection on Food Blogging

After almost a week of trying to blog all of my meals and snacks, I’ve come to a conclusion:  I just don’t like it! And here’s why:

Food blogging is time consuming.

Some of my favorite blogs snap a picture of every meal and I love to read them.  But some of these bloggers are doing this for their job.  I am not. I already work full time AND blog.  So I found that my motivation really lacked as my blog became more a job than just for fun (which is what it is!)

I had thoughts of changing what it is I truly wanted to eat

I really do eat a lot of the same meals and for one reason: I enjoy it! I had pizza 4 days in a row this past week!  That’s kind of crazy, but it’s what happens when you drink a margarita and then order pizza.  I had so many leftovers! I don’t waste food and certainly not a perfectly delicious pizza.  So I wanted to eat it 4 days in a row.  And I did.

But after work last night I thought about concocting something else to eat simply to have something better to blog about.  But I realized that I wanted to eat the pizza and didn’t want to cook and doing something only for the blog is silly.  It’s my LIFE not a SHOW! I can eat what I want.

I’m Lazy

Yes, I am lazy and didn’t enjoy busting out my camera anytime I ate something.  Last night I just gave up.  I snapped a picture of my pizza for dinner but then went on to eat a bowl of cereal and a couple of handfuls of M&Ms.  I was lazy to take a picture of that.  I just didn’t feel like it.  Now I know, I don’t have to take pictures of everything, but it made me realize that I won’t be that kind of blogger: One who literally snaps a picture of every morsel of food.  It’s not my style.

I’ve gotta be ME

Whether that be at a fun, happening restaurant with interesting food and drinks:

Or in my Pizza Friday Uniform with a homemade Margarita for one:

Also swanky 😉

Some bloggers make food blogging seem so effortless and that in itself is a skill because even with the little food blogging I did, it took some work. So those bloggers whose blogs have amazing pictures of their meals are working extra hard!

Like I said, I love blogs who showcase their meals when it’s truly their style of blogging.  For me, it’s not.  I’m glad I tried to challenge myself, but it further confirms the fact that I am just not cut out for food blogging.  I gotta be me and my blog is more than food. It’s all aspects of health, which is more my style.

In conclusion you’ll still see some food blogging, but not every day.  And if there is anything you want to know about my meals or anything in general on this blog you can always ask! I’d be happy to answer 🙂

Do you blog about every meal you eat?
