What Would Your Real Life Friends Say?

Good Morning!  It’s only 6:30AM and for some reason I am full of energy.  Just another reason why I love my mornings! And the fact that the deer seem to always greet me as I drive in to work 🙂

It was a little family too – Mom, Dad, and two babies.  I about cry every time I see them (because I’m strange…and I love animals so much!)

Don't worry guys, it's just that crazy lady with the camera again.

So cute!

Farmer’s Market

It’s my early day at work and we’ll be spending the day setting up and working the Farmers Market we’re hosting. I really love this aspect of my job.  Putting together programs and events focused on health and wellness is so fun and I feel like the employees here are so appreciative and enjoy participating.  Let’s just hope the weather holds out for us today! It’s supposed to be hot with just a chance of isolated storms.  I think it will be a great day though!

What Would Your Real Life Friends Say?

When I write a post for my blog, I truly am being 100% genuine and authentic with what I say.  This is me.

But there are parts of me that are not portrayed on here simply because I think it’s hard to show everything about who you are through a blog.  For one, I don’t tell you guys everything about me or tell you every little thing that I do each day (trust me, you’d be bored to see how much TV I really watch at night and how early I go to bed..even on a Saturday night.  I’m really cool).  I also don’t talk in detail about my relationships with friends and family.  I just skim the surface of my life.

I thought it would be fun to come up with things that I think my “real life” friends and family would say about me and how I act in “real life”.  Ready to for this?

#1:  I am really strange.  And my friends would probably agree with that and have no problem saying it to my face. I’m strange in a goofy way and I love to make others laugh doing really weird things.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Exhibit C (this is what happens when a 3 year old puts your make up on by the way)

Exhibit D

I could really go on all day about how much of a goon I am, but I will spare you that and move on 😉

#2: I don’t talk about my emotions out loud.  When I write a post (like Tuesday’s on Food Obsession), I write from the heart.  Often those posts come out of no where. I just get a thought and I run with it.  These posts are meant to help others by sharing what I’ve been through and how I have changed my life for the better. I hope to inspire others to do the same if they are struggling with body image.

But in my “real life” I don’t talk about this.  Perhaps I should talk about it more, but in reality, I don’t.  It’s more something that I like to express through writing.

Plus, I like to spend my time laughing when I am with friends and sometimes a serious conversation like that just doesn’t come up!

I mean who could take me seriously looking like this?

That’s me and Fernando by the way.

#3: I’m a cry baby. Although I don’t always talk thoroughly about my emotions, I certainly can cry like no other! I’ve always been a cry baby.  Growing up I was the youngest out of most of my cousins and I was constantly picked on.  I would cry all. the. time. I even had a shirt that said “Don’t bother me, I am crabby”.  Because I was!

Now-a-days, I still can cry easily and I am easily upset, especially anything having to do with the mistreatment of animals.  When those depressing commercials come on with Sarah Mclachlan singing, I have to turn it off or the water works will instantly flow.

#4: I’m not the most patient person…and I think Andy would definitely agree! Unfortunately he gets the brunt of it too, especially if we’re driving somewhere and I get lost.  Let’s just say it’s not pretty and neither are the words coming out of my mouth!

#5: I hardly ever wear make up or dress up.  And again, Andy would attest to this. When I post pictures from weddings or other fun outings, I actually do put effort into what I wear.  But aside from these times, I generally wear absolutely no make up and you can find me in my shorts and a t-shirt or hoodie.

I actually would like to work on putting more effort into what I wear and actually brushing my hair rather than putting it up in a bun, because I really do feel better.  But ultimately, I’m lazy and I’d rather slip into something comfy!

Question:

Tell me something that YOUR friends or family would say about YOU that isn’t always portrayed on your blog?

It's Not a Wedding Without a Line Dance

This weekend sure flew by! It seemed as if I was always on the go.  I definitely enjoy weekends like these because I feel so accomplished.  But I also really love my lazy weekends and so far not much is on the agenda for next weekend. I hope my couch is ready for me because I have some serious reality TV to catch up on 😉

Saturday

To start my busy weekend off I headed to a free Yoga class at Puma Yoga Studio in Lakewood, Ohio.

I had never been to this studio before and I was excited to give it a try.  My boss recommend I go since they were having free classes on Saturday.  I can’t pass up a free class!

I’m glad I didn’t pass up the free class because it was a good one.  The class was called Rise and Shine since it was at 7:30AM. I prefer doing Yoga early in the morning when I have not had anything to eat.  My stomach definitely appreciates it too 😉

The class was a nice blend of flowing poses, holding poses, and deep breathing and relaxation.  I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone in the Cleveland area. It had a great atmosphere and the staff working were very friendly and helpful. Plus their prices for classes when not free seem pretty reasonable.

After Yoga I hit up a local Starbucks to get myself a hot coffee and to surprise Andy with one of his favorite treats: a Mocha Frappucinno (also scoring some major girlfriend points if I do say so myself!)

A Yoga class and a Starbucks coffee was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Wedding

Saturday night we had yet another wedding to attend.  This makes it three for the summer. But I’m certainly not complaining.  What’s not to love about busting some serious moves on the dance floor, eating great food, and boozing my face off? Nothing!!

Andy’s family friend was getting married to his long-time girlfriend.  Andy’s parents, brother Joe, and sister-in-law Lindsay were also attending so I was looking forward to spending time with everyone.

The wedding and reception were both held at the same place, a local Hilton Hotel.  In fact, all three of the weddings I attending this summer (See Kelly’s here and Sam’s here) were also this way.  I really liked not having to travel from place to place.  Super convenient, especially for out of town guests.

The wedding ceremony was short, sweet, and beautiful.  We had a cocktail hour shortly after where we munched on cheese, crackers, fruit, bruschetta, and mini egg rolls.

We also spent a lot of time at the bar…Naturally 😉

The families of the bride and groom sure like to party…there was a great assortment of beer, wine, and tons of liquor.

Our Table

The dinner was served buffet style and there was an array of options including chicken, salmon, some kind of red meat (which I don’t eat so I didn’t really take a good look!), mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad, and rolls.  It was all pretty good but I especially loved the salad since there was fresh parmesan cheese available to top it with. Yum!

The wedding cake was amaretto flavored which I’m not a huge fan of so I only had a bite.  However, it was certainly a beautifully decorated cake!

The rest of the night was spent out on the dance floor where I showed off my line dancing skills busting out the “Cupid Shuffle” and “The Booty Call”.  It wouldn’t be a wedding without those line dances! 🙂

Sunday

Andy I woke up late on Sunday and made a hangover special breakfast:

  • Cheesy eggs
  • Home Fries
  • English Muffin with butter
  • Extra grease for the headache

After breakfast we had to get ready to attend my friend Megan’s baby’s first birthday party. Andy was not wanting to get up:

But too bad, I made him come along with me.  We ended up having a nice day out visiting with friends and celebrating little Lena’s 1st birthday.

Megan and her husband Dan provided a wonderful assortment of food and goodies to eat:

There were sandwiches, potato salad, chicken wings, chicken sausage, chips and dip, and my favorite: cake pops! I ate three of those little suckers.  They are delicious (and highly addicting!)

While the adults ate lunch miss Lena had a blast eating her birthday cupcake

And then shoving it into her uncle’s eye:

What an angel 🙂

But after all the gift opening and excitement, this little one was ready for nap time:

Lena and Mom

That was our cue to go so we said goodbye to everyone and headed out to run some Sunday errands.

Dress Up

After running errands Andy and I vegged on the couch and ate some leftover pizza (from Pizza Friday) for dinner.  Then we decided it was time to dress up Boo and Sophia in this crazy bow tie:

Boo the Circus Clown

Sophia’s turn was next:

I kinda hate you right now

If I dance this thing comes off....got it?

Andy and I are easily amused (or getting really lame!)

This better not be on the blog

I hope you all had a great weekend!!

What is your favorite kind of cake? I’m a cheesecake kind of girl!

Question of the Day:

What is your favorite kind of cake? I’m a cheesecake kind of girl!

Sunny San Diego!

My trip to San Diego for my friend Sam’s wedding was incredible.  I loved this city! It was beautiful, vibrant, and full of life.  There were always so many people walking around, eating at restaurants, and hanging out at bars that I often wondered if anyone even worked.  I was also secretly wishing I had a schedule like that!

Bachelorette Party

Andy and I traveled all day last Wednesday (with a 3-hour layover!) and arrived in San Diego at 7pm. I was tired so I hit up Starbucks and my energy instantly changed…thank God! We stopped by to check in at our hotel, the Sofia, and I quickly changed and got ready for the night.  I had some serious partying to do!

My first stop was Sam’s Bachelorette Party at the Whiskey Girl.  Andy has a friend who lives in the area so luckily he had other plans (and it would be a total bust to bring a boyfriend to a bachelorette party!)

I couldn’t wait to catch up with my college friends.  I had not seen some of them in over a year, which is just way too long!!

The Bride-to-Be

It was a Wednesday night and because it was San Diego and no one apparently has to get up for their job, it was a packed house!

We had a great time dancing, catching up, and boozing (a lot!) until the bar closed.

My drink of choice for the night was a vodka with soda water and a splash of cranberry juice and fresh limes.  They made em’ strong! But for nearly $9.00 a drink, it better be 😉

After a night of drinking and a full day of traveling, I was starving.  I didn’t have a real dinner (and I was drunk) so I hit up a Pizza Hut with some of the others for a light night meal.  It hit the spot!

Sight Seeing

Even though I awoke each day in San Diego feeling hungover and tired, I still got my butt outta bed to see some of the city.  I brought my workout clothes and shoes to go for a run but that never happened.  I was OK with that as I was more concerned with being with my friends and having a good time.

Coronado Island

We spent some time walking around Coronado Island, which was stunning.

There were lots of cute shops and restaurants surrounding the beautiful hotel:

We spent some time walking down the beach.  The weather was about 70 degrees, so the water was too cold to be in.  But for walking, the temperature was just right.

We took some time to explore downtown San Diego as well and enjoyed a few of the restaurants and bars.  I really love the atmosphere San Diego has! It’s so relaxing and fun.

Rehearsal Dinner

Sam and Ryan had their rehearsal dinner on Thursday evening and it took place on the beach.  It was simply beautiful.

A cookout style dinner was served, which I thought was delicious.  We dined on BBQ ribs and chicken, potato salad, rolls, and baked beans.

It was a lovely evening filled with friends and family of the bride and groom

After the rehearsal dinner we hit up the bar scene yet again in downtown San Diego.  It was a fun night!

The Wedding

Sam and Ryan’s wedding took place on a Friday night outside on an upper level of a hotel.

She made a gorgeous bride!

The ceremony was lovely and I’m thrilled I was a part of Sam and Ryan’s special day!

Congrats Sam and Ryan!

 Time to Celebrate!

The reception was just as beautiful and elegant as the wedding.  It took place inside the hotel, which was nice.

We enjoyed bacon wrapped scallops, crab cakes, and bruschetta as appetizers, along with champagne and the open bar.

Dinner was a choice between steak, chicken and mushroom ravioli.  I chose the ravioli since I’m not a big meat eater and I especially enjoy ravioli.  Before our meal, we dined on crab soup and salad.  The meal was delicious!

Not long after dinner it was time to cut a rug on the dance floor.  That was no problem for us!

I even busted out my secret talent later on in the evening:

Pure class, I know.

Bustin' a move

The night was amazing and we all had a blast celebrating with the happy couple!

Back to Reality

Andy and I were sad to leave sunny San Diego the next day and were not looking forward to our 4-hour layover in Dallas Texas (which is smoldering hot right now!)  We didn’t get home until 1am and we both crashed immediately.

I did absolutely nothing on Sunday and now I’ve been trying to transition back into my normal, every day life (but secretly wishing I could live the San Diego lifestyle and hang out at the beach in the middle of the day!) I would love to go back to the west coast and explore the sights more.

Time to get to work!  Have a great Tuesday!

Question:

Do you have a favorite vacation spot?

Congrats K and K!

This weekend Andy and I headed to Cincinnati for my good friend Kelly’s wedding.

Kelly and her new husband Keith had a beautiful ceremony and reception Friday night at the Embassy Suites on the river. I loved that Kelly and Keith’s wedding was held at the Embassy Suites.  The location was beautiful, as it overlooked dowtown, and it was also convenient that the ceremony, reception and hotel were the same venue.  It made it especially nice for out of town guests!

Kelly and Keith

The evening started with the wedding ceremony outside overlooking the river and downtown Cincinnati:

Kelly look absolutely beautiful walking down the aisle with her dad.

I was overwhelmed with all sorts of feelings as this is a friend I have known since the 7th grade.  We’ve been through so much together.  I still can’t believe my friend is married now! It’s hard to believe the days of making up dances in the living room of our parent’s houses are long gone and we are all grown up.

The ceremony was short, yet incredibly sweet and heartfelt.  Kelly’s older sister, Holly, served as Maid of Honor and her two adorable daughters served as flower girls:

After the ceremony we went inside for the reception.  The room was beauitful, filled with green decorations, the color Kelly chose for her wedding and the bridesmaid’s dresses:

Dinner and Drinks

Dinner was delicious and there was a choice between chicken and steak.  I chose the chicken which had a marsala sauce.  It was served with mashed potatoes and veggies.  Along with our main course we also had salad and rolls.  Everything was great!

The open bar was in full force and our table was sat right next to it.  I’m positive Kelly did that on purpose.  She knows her friends so well 😉

We spent the evening eating, dancing, and taking pictures in the photo booth.  I’ve seen these photo booths at a few weddings now and I think they are such a great idea! Plus they are hilarious once everyone’s had some drinks…the pictures get a bit more creative!

I think the dancing was the highlight of the evening.  We were non-stop!

I was happy that I got to spend the evening with some of my best girlfriends.  Some of us have been friends for nearly two decades…crazy!!

The wedding was so much fun and I was so thrilled to be a part of Kelly and Keith’s big day! Congrats K and K!

Saturday

On Saturday morning Andy and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the hotel with Kelly and some other guests who spent the night.  The breakfast was awesome as it was cooked-to-order…not just continental.  After a night of drinking and dancing I wanted something a little greasy and filling.  I opted for a veggie omelet, some home fries and half a bagel.  It hit the spot!

We hit the road and headed back to Cleveland by late morning.  Usually I stay longer in Cincinnati as my parents and brother live there but they are all at the beach in Emerald Isle, North Carolina! Luckily I’ll be joining them next weekend for a week long vacation.  Can’t wait!

I was exhausted from the 4 hour ride and spent the rest of Saturday napping and hanging out at home with Andy.  We decided on Chipotle for dinner as neither of us wanted to cook or go out.  Take out it was!

Today I am planning on grocery shopping at Trader Joes and doing some cleaning around the house. I hope you are having a great weekend!

Question:

Do you have any weddings to attend this summer? I have three! Bring on the celebrations!

Cookout and a Crazy Dog Park

After having an already fun and crazy holiday weekend, it was then topped off with a cookout at Andy’s parent’s house.

Andy and I

There was so much food! We munched on grilled chicken (with different sauces to dip in), hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, chips and salsa, deviled eggs, and watermelon.  To drink we had an assortment of beer and wine as well as iced tea, water and soda.

My favorite was the potato salad as well as the homemade salsas that Andy’s sister-in-law, Lindsay, made.

I think I ate my weight in the chips n’ salsa!

Homemade salsas

I filled my plate with a bit of everything:

We brought our dogs, Boo and Sophia, over for the day.  Andy’s parents have three dogs and Andy’s brother Joe and his wife, Lindsay, have one.  It was a like a crazy dog park!

The dogs literally played non-stop for 5 hours.  Boo is really fast (and knows it…he’s not very modest!) so he enjoyed running at full speed being chased by the others:

Just try and catch me Sammy and Buddy!

Baby Claire (Andy’s niece and God daughter) was also enjoying the 4th of July cookout and dressed the part:

Boo made sure to tell Claire that he loved her outfit:

Isn’t Claire so cute?! I just love her!

Claire with mom and dad:

The adorable family!

Besides eating (which we did a lot of!), we played games of Bocce Ball as we enjoyed the perfect, sunny weather.   Then we went back to eating when Andy’s mom brought out this beautiful and festive dessert:

This deliciousness was filled with berries, whipped cream and angel food cake.  It was awesome!

Boo and Sophia said their favorite was the watermelon:

We love watermelon!

When Sophia wasn’t munching on watermelon or eating the millions of treats that were given to her, she was doing what she does best: Looking cute and begging for more food!

Please, I have not had anything to eat in days....

If Sophia wasn’t bad enough, she invited her partner in crime, Bernie, to help beg:

Begging partner!

What little goobers! (But I love them of course 🙂 )

I have to say that this weekend was filled with so much fun, friends, family, and food.  What more could you ask for?

I had a great time celebrating and being with loved ones, even when this guy won’t smile for any of the pictures I take:

Take 1

Take 2

Take 3: Eyes are closed, but I'll take it!

Now it’s time for me to get my booty to work.  I only have a three-day week since I am taking Friday off for a wedding in Cincinnati. More celebrations to come! Have a great day everyone!

Question of the Day:

I’m in need of book suggestions for my upcoming vacation to North Carolina.  Do you have any book recommendations?

My Holiday Weekend

I hope you all are enjoying your Monday! Here’s what I’ve been up to on this glorious three day holiday weekend:

A night out with the girls on Friday:

Enjoying one to many of these…

And these…

Vodka + Water + Lime

Unpictured went the hours I spent recovering on Saturday and eating on the couch watching TV.  This is what happens when you drink as if you are in college again!

Sunday night I spent a night out with Andy in downtown Cleveland at Shooters on the Water:

We spent time watching a crazy 80s band perform:

"Whip it...Whip it good!"

I loved their outfits…

"I wish that I had Jessie's girl!"

I spotted a random guy all dolled up in a white suit…interesting choice of outfit, I wish I would have gotten the memo 😉 He reminded me of a cruise director!

We spent the evening eating, drinking Bud Light Limes and enjoying the water front views as the sun was setting:

It was a beautiful night in Cleveland!

Some of Andy’s buddies also joined us for a night out:

Something that went unpictured was our midnight run to Taco Bell.  Yes, we sometimes revert back to our 21-year old selves and have 4th meal.  It tasted soo good too 🙂

This morning I spent time with Boo and Sophia on a nice run through the neighborhood.

Running Buddies

I wish I would have had a camera because we saw tons of animals.  I saw a raccoon (which looked kinda scary and crazy!), about 5 cats, a million bunnies and squirrels, and an owl which really creeped me out.  Just another day in Cleveland I guess!

Hello there!

Source

I covered 2 miles with Boo and Sophia then went out for a mile by myself.

I felt surprisingly good considering I ate 10lbs of Taco Bell a midnight!

Sophia and Boo took some time to cool off on the patio:

Today’s Plans

In about an hour Andy and I (plus the dogs) are heading over to Andy’s parents for a cookout to celebrate the 4th of July.  I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Question:

What is your favorite food to eat at cookouts? I love deviled eggs and potato salad!
