Today I bid farewell to something that has been with me for quite some time.
A giant cyst on my back.
It was time for us to part, as much as it pained me (literally) to see you go! I have had this cyst right on the middle of my upper back (really attractive when I wear dresses!) from as far back as middle school or high school. Funny thing is, my dad has a cyst in the exact same spot! Who knew giant oil-filled growths were passed down from father to daughter?! 😉
I actually had the cyst drained when I was 19, but it grew back. It’s been back for a while now, I think a few years. My friends and I would call it my “third eye”. There was one time we actually drew an eye on my cyst, but I won’t gross you out with the details!
Today I went to the DR to have my ol’ friend removed. It HURT. Not gonna lie, I really hate needles. I even have a tatoo on my stomach and I can tell you that getting that doesn’t hurt as bad as getting shots (in my opinion). Today I had about 5 or 6 shots in my back. Ouch! The whole process of getting it removed was quick, about 10 minutes. After the shots, my back was completely numb, but I could still here what they were doing when cutting and stitching…ick!
Are you afraid of needles/shots?
For some reason it really freaks me out when I am getting surgery, but I am completely fine watching someone else get something done. I have even sat in on an 8-hour open heart surgery while interning in Cardiac Rehab and was not the slightest bit bothered by seeing a man’s chest completely open. But thinking about someone hacking into my back was really bothering me!
Now, I am recovering. My back is sore and throbbing. It’s not awful though. I can’t really lift upper body too much for the next 2 weeks until I get my stitches out. I can still do some cardio though, so that’s good.
My New Job
No, I didn’t find a new full time job yet, but I did do something new today! Before getting my cyst removed, I worked at the “Student Appreciation” event at the University I work for. My job was to run the cotton candy booth. I had never done it before, so I was a complete newbie to cotton candy makin’. It was hard at first. You have to really rotate your arm just right to catch the cotton candy. As the day went on, I got the hang of it. And if I do say so myself, I think it’s definitely something I can officially add to my resume as I search for a new job 😉
I actually don’t like cotton candy or really any candy that much (besides chocolate) so I didn’t taste test any of my creations. I did get some freebies from other booths though!
Pizza Friday
Since living alone for almost the past year in a very small town with not much to do, I’ve had to start some traditions with myself. Fridays are what I like to call Pizza Fridays. As lame as it sounds, I actually really look forward to getting a pizza and spending the evening on my couch watching movies with my dogs. And this blog would be a total sham if I didn’t talk about pizza!
Every Friday (unless I am busy. I do have a life sometimes, I promise) I order a Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Dominos. I also get an order of Cinna Stix because well, I like to eat. You have to try this pizza, it’s my favorite! Once I like something a lot, it’s hard for me to try something new in fear of not liking it as much. So 98% of the time I order this same pizza. Good thing Andy loves this pizza just as much as me!
I order from Dominos so much that the delivery driver said to me tonight “We were wondering when you were going to order again!” Yeah, I’m a regular. I explained to him that I was out of town for the last few weeks and that I was unable to have my weekly pizza.
I enjoyed half of the pizza and I also enjoyed half of these…
I’m actually not even the slightest bit stuffed!
Weird how much pizza I can comfortably consume 😉
The pups and I are just relaxing the rest of the evening watching the latest episode of America’s Next Top Model. I love this show. I’m one of the rare people who loves Tyra Banks. How do you feel about her?
Before plopping down on the couch for the night, I tried my best to take a good picture of myself and the dogs. But they turned out like this:
Have a great night everyone!
Ouch, I bet that did hurt! Glad you got it removed, though! Hopefully it doesn’t come back.
Ohhhh myyy, pizza Fridays?! I need to start a Friday tradition. 🙂 Maybe pizza? Ice cream? Pancakes for dinner? =P I usually get ice cream or fro yo with my bf when I see him (usually on Saturdays). Once he is home for the summer I am going to make Fridays a tradition with him. 🙂
Traditions are fun, they give you something to look forward too! I like the idea of ice cream Friday 🙂
hehe meditating with the dogs.. yes it does look liek that. ouch ur poor back- that looks very painful!!
pizza and cinnstix will take care of that… hehe ❤ xoxo
Oh that was prolly painful… eek. I hate needles! Which is ironic because I gave plasma for extra $$$ in college…
Your poor back! P had one removed from his face twice. 😦 His mom gets them too. So weird how we inherit things like that! Pizza Friday and Cinna Stix…wish i ate at your house last night!
You have the cutest pups ever!
Awww hope your back feels better soon! I HATE needles…eeek! Just thinking about them makes me cringe!
I love your pizza Friday idea…and oh Cinnastix are ridiculously good! Childhood fave right there, except I always remember the ones from Pizza Hut!!
Enjoy your weekend !!
umm i am basically in love with you and your pizza nights.. I WANA JOIN!! I LOVE BUFFALO CHICKEN!! and those cinnastix are sooooo good with milk!!!
ahhh so sorry about your back! I had a cist where my legs rub against each other when i ran.. IT WAS TERRRRIBLE!!!!
HAPPY WEEKEND LOVE!
Needles used to bother me a lot when I was younger, but now they’re not really a big deal. But I will say this, I would rather get a quick shot then to have a needle stay in my arm while taking blood out. I love your pizza Friday’s! My husband and I don’t have a pizza Friday, but practically a pizza weekend. So depending on what’s goin on, we’ll order it on Friday or Saturday. We just had Domino’s too! He got the loaded veggie pizza and I got the feta cheese pizza with white sauce. Ahh, I love pizza.
Love the pics of you & the dogs 🙂
Glad everything went well with the cyst removal- I agree about the tattoo- I am terrified of needles as well, but I thought the tattoo was easier- well, execept when they were right on my bone. YIKES
Anyways- love those cinnamon sticks- they are DELICIOUS!! I will have to try that Buffalo pizza sometime. – it looks really good!!
Hope you have a GREAT rest of the weekend 🙂
